Rare and beautiful Iron Side Table from the Northern Village of Arras, France.

“Arras” garden furniture first emerged around 1840 when one of three companies manufacturing metal products in the town of Arras, Grassin-Baledans, began to specialize in garden furniture and started producing artistic ironwork. All authentic Arras pieces are entirely hand-forged and riveted, using metal tubing and flat metal. The furniture was intended for the high-end market at a time when the privileged classes were discovering the benefits of outdoor living, and the pieces, which later included all types of garden accessories, were made to the highest quality and durability. The original lion's paw foot design was changed to a sleeker hoof design after 1900. This lovely table is in excellent antique condition and features the four original lion’s paw feet (indicating a mid-19th C date) and a sinuous design in keeping with the high quality expected.
